This document is the About the Cluster document created by the authors of the NC2ML Instructional Frameworks. Read this document prior to teaching the cluster in order to get insight into the clustering of the standards, mathematics to be taught, and important considerations. This document is not remixable since the document has been written by creators of the NC2ML Instructional Frameworks.
This resource is a great tool to create number lines of varying start and end points. Set the starting and ending numbers and the increments you want for the number line and click the 'Create It' button to retrieve a pdf of your number lines.
This is a blended unit based on Unit 3 of the second grade Everyday Math series.
This unit will focus on strategies for solving subtraction problems within 20. Students will learn strategies including: counting up and back on a open number line, using their knowledge of addition/subtraction facts within 10 to solve larger problems, and using doubles facts to solve subtraction problems. This unit builds on the last unit as students lean on their addition knowledge to help with subtraction. The big goal is for students to develop fluency with subtraction facts within 20.
