Students will keep a science journal during each of the four seasons to observe and compare changes in their environment.

In this lesson, students will understand that change occurs over time and has an impact on individuals. Students will be able to define change. They will identify changes in themselves and others. They will identify life changing events and how they affect their lifestyle. They will identify the characteristics of each season and identify the way each season influences the way people live, work, dress, and play.

Using a color chart, students will make observations outside during each of the four seasons.

In this lesson, students will dress a cut-out doll appropriately for a field trip outside during various weather conditions (such as hot, rainy, cool, very cold, and snowy).

In these activities students will understand seasons and the changes they bring. Students will learn a song about seasons and months of the year, draw and write in their science journals about the seasons to illustrate their understanding.

In this lesson, students will read 'My Circle of Seasons' by Gerda Muller. Students will be broken up into groups and assigned a season. Students will make a quilt and will write a cinquain about their season.

The interactive resource reinforces students' knowledge of the four seasons as they participate in a game of Jeopardy.

In this lesson, students take exploratory walks outside around their school campus to see and feel the signs of the season. They record their findings using writing, drawing, collecting objects and using tools such as thermometers and magnifiers. Probing questions focus on what the children are experiencing, what is happening and why. Student observations are recorded on a language experience chart. Exploratory walks continue throughout the school year with the charts and student observations collected and compared with other seasons.

In this lesson, students will read various books about the seasons. Students will discuss the behaviors of people and animals during a given season. Students will create a mural depicting themselves participating in an activity appropriate for the season they are studying.
