In this activity students identify the different relationships that can be found in a community and create a class Community ABC Book.

In this lesson students will watch a video about polite Internet behavior (netiquette). They will engage in a class discussion about proper online behavior.

Students will connect virtually with one or more community members such as police chief, city manager, librarian, or mayor in order to discuss their roles and responsibilities. Students will keep track of what they learn in order to create a poster describing the person and everything he/she does to help the community.

Second grade students in Michigan continue their integrative approach to social studies by focusing in on the local community. Students are introduced to a social environment larger than their immediate surroundings.
