This multi-day unit plan uses the problem of childhood obesity to apply the psychological perspectives. It includes resources and cooperative learning activities for establishing that there is a problem, exploring the problem, looking for possible causes, deciding what content in psychological science is related to the problem, and proposing solutions to the problem.

This unit plan teaches children how to create and maintain healthy poison prevention habits. The site includes an education curriculum, a participant pack and an interactive video. NOTE: Links to resources are at the bottom of the page.

Students will explore the lives of various jazz musicians. They will become familiar with the social and historical events that were present during the lives of these individuals. They will listen to the music of the artists and become knowledgeable about their styles. This activity will culminate in the production of a news/talk show created and performed by the students highlighting the lives of these musical figures.

A Learning Plan is an instructional resource used to record students' proficiency of a standard and gives students' choice of how they will learn the content. The use of this resource also enables students to learn at their own pace. The data will inform the teacher whether or not a student needs more direct instruction. In this task students are asked to decide how to spend $1,000 on supplies and materials for their classroom. The purpose of this task is for students to solve problems involving the four operations and draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories.

After completing this investigation, students should be able to compare climate patterns from a variety of regions of the globe and explain how climate is defined by precipitation and temperature. Students should also be able to give examples of the relationship between climate and the living environment (the biome).

In this opening lab, students will become familiar with weather by recording observations about the weather conditions and the plants in their own schoolyard or neighborhood.
