Students will first use VR headsets to gain some background knowledge about Titanic. They will begin this story by examining the tone of the iceberg and they will then apply these skills to analyze the tone of other characters in the text. They will then create a Storyboard to create a character they think should be added to the story. They will create the character and use appropriate word choice to show tone.

In this multi-day lesson, students will play the role of "devil's advocate" in debating the potential reform of professional sports. Students will consider multiple perspectives as they annotate texts in preparation for a culminating debate activity in which they assume roles of several hypothetical stakeholders.

Students will delve into Hans Thoma’s Wondrous Birds to discover an aerial perspective and learn to see more deeply. Using dance, English language arts, science, theatre arts, visual arts, and poetry, they will explore landforms and bodies of water from a bird’s-eye view.

This activity illustrates the interrelationship between science and engineering in the context of extinction prevention. There are two parts to the activity. The first part challenges students to think like scientists as they generate reports on endangered species and give presentations worthy of a news channel or radio broadcast. The second part puts students in the shoes of engineers, designing ways to help the endangered species.

In this lesson plan, students rewrite part of The Odyssey from the perspective of a minor character. Students choose one of Odysseus' adventures from the text, then consider how the characters on the other side of his conquests might perceive what happened.

In this lesson, students explore how to write from an object’s perspective. The teacher uses a picture book, Dear Mrs. La Rue, to introduce the idea of writing from a non-human’s perspective. A mini-lesson follows in which students work together to define the word "perspective." Students collaboratively write and share a short example of writing from a pencil sharpener’s perspective. Students ultimately write their own stories from an object’s perspective after reading the model story. This lesson takes multiple days as students prewrite, draft, revise, edit, and publish their stories.

Students will see multiple accounts of the same event, the Battle of Little Bighorn/Greasy Grass. They will look at the differences in perspecitves as well as evaluate the relationship between the American settlers and American Indian groups based on accuracy of historical information.

This is a lesson about the vertical dimension of the atmosphere and includes four activities. Activity 1 Introduces concepts related to distance, including length and height and units of measurement. Students are asked to make comparisons of distances. In activity 2, students learn about the vertical profile of the atmosphere. They work with a graph and plot the heights of objects and the layers of the atmosphere: troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. In activity 3, students learn about other forms of visual displays using satellite imagery. They compare images of the same weather feature, a hurricane, using two different images from MODIS and CALIPSO. One image is looking down on the hurricane from space, the other looks through the hurricane to display a profile of the hurricane. Activity 4 reinforces the concept of the vertical nature of the atmosphere. Students will take a CALIPSO satellite image that shows a profile of the atmosphere and use this information to plot mountains and clouds on their own graph of the atmosphere. The recommended order for the activities is to complete the first two activities on day one, and the second two activities on day two. Each day will require approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
