The lesson will focus on rules for online safety. First, we will discuss rules for being safe in our classroom community and the reason for those rules. We then will discuss rules that they know for online safety and make a list on chart paper. Then the students will view a video from Common Sense Education, My Online Neighborhood. They will learn 3 main rules for being safe online: Ask an adult to go online, only talk to people you know and use websites that are just right for you. I will add to the chart paper . The students will work in groups to create posters focusing on one rule. They will share with the class and discuss. Lastly, the students will discuss with a partner on rule that they feel is the most important to them. They will then draw a picture and write at least one rule on the writing paper. For students who are above grade level they can write more than one. For students who are below grade level, they can draw a picture and then have their idea scribed by the teacher.
