ELL students will learn vocabulary for describing movement, useful for describe animal or objects in motion. Students listen and read the descriptive words and watch animals demonstrating the movements.

In this lesson, students read the book "Leaves" by David Ezra Stein and discuss the seasons and how trees change throughout the seasons. Students will then create art to showcase leaves from each season.

During the fall, students and their families are beginning to visit different farms in the area. They go to the Pumpkin Patch to find the perfect pumpkin to turn into a jack-o-lantern! This lesson plan will give students the opportunity to learn the about the life cycle of a pumpkin through investigation and exploration.

In this lesson, students complete a series of activities in order to practice classification skills and learn about the differences between living and nonliving things.

In this lesson, students classify objects that they collect during a scavenger hunt on their school playground according to living and non-living. They will then create real and pictorial graphs that represent their data.

After reading the book Each Living Thing by Joanne Ryder, students will discuss the differences between living and nonliving things. Then they will go outdoors and make observations about the living and nonliving things found there. Back in the classroom they will share the living things they observed and a class list will be generated. Then students choose one example from the list and illiustrate a page for a class book of things we think are living.

Students use activity cards to match seeds with the fruits from which they grow. They learn that a seed will produce the same type of plant and seeds.

In this lesson, students take short weekly or bi-weekly nature walks over the course of one season or throughout the school year. As they walk, students should use their senses to gather information about the environment. Upon return to the classroom, students will draw pictures to visually depict their experiences. Each illustration can be compile in a class book so that students can see how things change through the seasons.

In this lesson, the class explores the living and nonliving parts of a forest while on a hike. Students spend individual quiet time observing and drawing parts of a forest. The lesson concludes with opportunities for students to act out and share what they observed.

Students will research Penguins with the guidance of the teacher.What do they eat, where do they live, how do they look, are there different kinds, and their lifecycle.

Students will study Polar Bears:Where do they live?What are their body characteristics?What do they eat?Their lifecycle...How are they different from other bears? (black, brown, pandas)

Through this website students can learn about seeds and how they grow by conducting their own plant investigation and sharing their thoughts with other kids.
