About Rethink Education
Please access the 5th Grade ELA Course Outline and Teacher Guide (coming soon) to support your needs.
Rethink Education is an NCDPI statewide blended instructional model, developed to support the immediate response of the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic, while also preparing for a future where students, families, and schools can successfully offer seamless instructional models of remote and in-person learning.
This program aims to:
- stabilize or improve student achievement during contingency learning circumstances,
- empower resilient and adaptive teachers who are equipped for digital-age instruction, and
- strengthen school and community preparedness for short term and long-term learning disruptions.
Parent Resources to Support This Course
Rethink Education is committed to providing parents and guardians with the support and resources needed to set their child up for success, regardless of potential learning disruptions, and no matter where learning takes place.
As part of our Rethink Education mission, we will provide parent guides to accompany our high-quality, standards-aligned and culturally relevant remote learning content for grades K-8. We want to support parents of students who are engaged in remote learning. We know from COVID 19 that many parents were at a loss in how to support their children in an online learning environment. In order to build parent capacity for future learning disruptions, there will be parent guides that will accompany all created K-8 content. These parent guides explain the content in straightforward terms so they can support their children’s learning at home and will encourage caretaker engagement with lessons. As courses are developed, Parent Guides will be added to this resource page.
