This pacing guide is the collaborative work of math teachers, coaches, and curriculum leaders from 38 NC public school districts. The teams worked through two face-to-face meetings and digitally to compile the information presented. NC Math 1, 2, and 3 standards were used to draft possible units of study for these courses. This is a first draft living document. Teams plan to meet throughout the year to continually tweak, update and refine these guides. Updates will be posted as available to this google document.

These are directions for Hub Academy participants as they complete their Hub Engagement activities.

In this session, attendees will learn how to lead students through the planning and development process of design challenges. Attendees will develop an understanding of the various components and stakeholders that can be brought into these challenges so that students have a well-rounded authentic learning experience.

In this session, you'll see actual, real-life examples of engineering / design thinking projects in classrooms just like yours. We will explore examples all the way from kindergarten through advanced high school math- with teacher-created materials and videos clearly showing the positive impacts on student thinking and learning.

Added through Remixing: A reflection section was added for a teacher to examine how culturally relevant teaching principles are included in the lesson plan template. Also an indication of the grade level and subject area was added as well.

Primary teachers, did you know play is a research-based best practice? Children grow and learn in all developmental areas through their engagement in centers: language and literacy, cognitive, social emotional, and physical. Child initiated, hands-on experiences provide standards-based practice in a risk-free environment. In this recorded webinar, tips for setting up center and actionable steps for implementation are shared. Teachers will leave with an understanding of how children learn through play. Research will be shared on why play is an integral part of the learning process for primary grades. Not only is this best for children, it allows teachers to target standards, differentiate instruction, and personalize learning. Participants will delve into the Office of Early Learning’s new Play to Learn Planning Guides and Posters. Both the Play to Learn Planning Guides and Posters are share on #GoOpenNC.
