Students can use this site to learn about Robert Munsch and how he became an author.

Students will respond to prompts within the Pear Deck lesson to show their knowledge and mastery of the role of the author & illustrator. Students will draw, drag, circle and write responses within the activity, therefore depending on class abilities, it can be completed whole group, small group or in literacy stations. This can be used with any Wonders Unit. 

In this worksheet activity, students differentiate between the roles of author and illustrator.

In this lesson, students learn about wants, choice, and scarcity. They listen to the story Betty Bunny Wants Everything and identify all the wants that Betty Bunny has at the toy store. Students learn that because of scarcity, they must make choices. They practice making choices by selecting a treat they want, a toy for one of the book characters, and finally a school item. They sing a song about choices and scarcity.

Transdisciplinary Theme: How We Express Ourselves: An Inquiry into the ways in which we reflect on, extend and enjoy our creativity; our appreciation of the aesthetic.

Students will investigate how color communicates and inspires.  This is a transdisciplinary IB unit that integrates literacy, math, science, and social studies.

In this activity, students will learn a song about what an author and illustrator do to make a book. There are multiple follow up activities including the students making a class book, author study, author party, and Skype an author.

The story is about a frog that is sad because he cannot sing like his friends, until one day when he gets a new musical instrument. This is a great storybook to share with kids using an interactive whiteboard.
