In this lesson, students will expand their understanding of bees and their roles. After reading a short set of poems, students will discuss and record how each of the bee roles impacts pollination. Then using available devices or paper, guided by a rubric, students will create a digital art piece of bees and hives then they record their understanding of bees’ roles. Finally, in a gallery walk, students will provide I SEE, I THINK, I WONDER critical feedback to peers either with dry-erase markers on white tables or sticky notes.

Weather ForecastingExplain some about weather forecasting to the students.  Have them watch a weather forecast on a SmartBoard or on their devices.  Share how meteorologists predict what the weather will be like later today, tomorrow, or even next week.  Share how they use previous weather to create computer models for weather predictions.  They use observations.  They can predict up to 7 days in the future with pretty good accuracy.

Day 1: draw maps of rooms in the school or the playground

Day 2: write directions of where they are on the map

Day 3: using their bee-bot and grid map, student A will read their written directions and student B will program the Bee-bot with partner A’s directions. The team will problem solve and make notes if the Bee-bot does not locate partner A. Students will then switch roles.
