Students will research an African American person based on set questions. The students will present their person in a digital presentation format.

During this PBL, students will read a text and make it come alive by creating a 3D story map that shows the major events of the plot and the obstacles that the main character faced throughout the story. Students will then code an Ozobot to maneuver through the story and the obstacles while explaining them to an audience or their peers.

This unit on digital citizenship helps students recognize the rights, responsibilities, and opportunities of living, learning, and working in an interconnected digital world and motivates students to act and model in ways that are safe, legal, and ethical.

In this lesson students engineer ramps and race monster trucks. Students estimate and measure distances traveled and then organize and visually represent this data in a graph.

This lesson accompanies the North Carolina children's book, "My NC from A to Z" which celebrates pride of place, and creates connections to North Carolina's rich African American heritage. In this lesson, students will identify different genres of music by NC African American artists and diverse musical regions of North Carolina. Students will create a "train route map" to understand the Great Migration and how Raleigh was a key point of train departure. Students will retell biographies of select musicians and artists using the Great Migration as a backdrop for cross-cultural influences.

Project Summary
In this lesson students will learn about electromagnetic energy through a female engineer who invented frequency hopping that is used by so many devices we use daily. Students will explore and solve a real world problem by designing a device to block or build a stronger Wi-Fi signals. Each team will record their work with Flip.

In this lesson, students use their knowledge of sound energy to create a soundproof box to protect a secret code word! Students measure and graph decibels to determine how well their boxes omit sounds!
